Economic Empowerment

Economic empowerment refers to the process of providing women and girls with the skills, resources, and opportunities to achieve economic independence. This involves improving their ability to earn a livelihood through employment, entrepreneurship, or other means, as well as increasing their access to financial services and assets.

Economic empowerment of women and girls is crucial for several reasons. First, it has been shown to have a positive impact on economic growth and development, as well as poverty reduction. When women and girls are economically empowered, they are more likely to participate in the labor force, earn higher wages, and contribute to their communities. This, in turn, leads to increased productivity, higher GDP growth, and a stronger economy.

Secondly, economic empowerment of women and girls fosters gender equality, which is essential for ensuring that women have the same rights and opportunities as men. By providing women and girls with equal access to education, employment, and financial services, we can help to break down entrenched gender norms and cultural barriers that hold women back from achieving their full potential.

In addition to the economic and social benefits, economic empowerment of women and girls can also have a positive impact on health outcomes. By enabling women and girls to earn their own income and make financial decisions, they are more likely to have control over their own lives, including their ability to access healthcare and other essential services.

Overall, economic empowerment of women and girls is crucial for achieving sustainable development goals, advancing gender equality, and creating a more prosperous and equitable society.

Our economic empowerment programs include:

  • Community Needs Assessment will pinpoint the various economic activities in the different communities such as farming, hairdressing, shoe making, fashion designing, soap making, bag making, baking and catering classes etc. Questionnaires can be employed to highlight the needs to be focused on.
  • Training sessions/skill acquisition classes will be provided for these activities.
  • Provision of soft loans after adequate training has been done and competence assessed. This is to enhance productivity.
  •  Design of schemes by which the use of these loans can be monitored &  accounted for.
  • Pre-arranged payment of a certain percentage back to the organization and those who are faithful in this would have access to bigger loans. This would enhance productivity and accountability as well as sustain the scheme.
  • Introduction of community farming where groups of women farm together, and the proceeds are shared amongst them. This would foster unity and encourage the sharing of ideas that would in turn enhance productivity.
